"have you seen black swan" GURL I CAME HERE FROM WATCHING IT ok tbf i did do ballet when i was young so it's not new but i haven't danced in about 4 years and never got on pointe and with studying life has gotten so chaotic that i NEVER stretch anymore...i can't even touch my knees, i have exams now so i think until i know my exams are over and i have less stress and time i want to just relearn the basics and just stretch so when i actually find a class i can be a little more prepared OMFG SORRY FOR THE SPAM BYE

i'm in my late teens and idk if i should try find an adult class or not?? like does anyone know if there are beginner teen classes that exist 😭😭😭

oh wow , you saying you get a break from reality in ballet class made me realize how I'm totally present while in ballet class , where my mind tends to easily roam when in yoga or even while doing an activity as high-energy as running on the treadmill.. I'm only now beginning ballet as an adult as well , but I hope this remains the case that it leads me to be ever-present in the studio.. I was wondering why it was such a GREAT feeling & the mind-body connection/focus required could be a big part of it

For anyone else on the small side with big boobs I want to suggest jule dancewear! They only carry xs-xl sadly but they are designed for bigger busts. Their alloy leotard sounds most supportive from reviews. My biggest fear about ballet is jumping in the outfits 😭 I haven’t tried their leotards myself because I need physio before starting but having options makes me feel better about the idea 🥰 Even if I need alterations I know the fabric itself is supportive. I always struggle with visible lines and fit with sports bras but based on reviews I’m optimistic I won’t even need one! (I’m a 32G) The class I want to try is more strict with dress code but I don’t mind. The fact that there’s requirements (even though they’re not as strict for adults) makes me optimistic that it’s taken seriously. Some people want a casual approach which is so valid, but this seems ideal for me 💕

I am starting today at 13 and I was really scared because I felt like it was too late to start but after seeing this it made me realize it’s never too late, thank you 🥰

Thanks for all the advice and tips. I'm starting a short beginners course next week and am nervous but excited. I ended up signing up for ballet because I want to do Horton Technique but need to build a good foundation in dance for it. After trying a Horton class last week, I didn't know any of the dance terminology and ballet/jazz is what the teacher recommend as it was difficult for me to keep up even though it was a beginners class. I'm looking forward to ballet though because they have such beautiful lines and move so gracefully.
